Stuck what to get on Mothers Day? Send your love with Prestige Flowers.

Go traditional on Mothers Day as every mum loves a bouquet given to her.

We all wonder what to buy or create for our mums, on Mothers Day.  Go simple but yet beautiful with Prestige Flowers.

Greeted at the door was a large monochrome box that reached above my knees.  Ooooh, I love large deliveries! The packaging had a repeated flowers and leaves print surrounding the box, with the text Prestige Flowers whom are voted the number 1 online florist on review centre. Trying to anticipate what bouquet Prestige Flowers  sent me to review, I tear open the box with excitement. My nose recognises the gentle sweet scent of flesh flowers. Giving the bouquet an elegant feel, it is wrapped in a cellophane checkered scribbled pattern, with a black gift bag.

The flowers are arranged beautifully, which is a combination of some of their luxury range, with subtle pink hints from the sorbet Roses that provide a feel of enchantment and love, complimented with large Anastasia blooms. To help emphasise the roses, there are clusters of soft Stallion Chrysanthemums, and dashes of soft pink Bourdovia buds. When blossomed, they are a stunning pop of fuchsia brightness to add to the carefully selected flowers. I’m not an expert on maintaining flowers, so was pleased there was a flower care card, along with a voucher.  YAY!

Prestige Flowers  are offering all Mothers Day order a chance to win free flowers for a year!! And if you are quick, there is some great sales to save on those pennies! There are also upgrade options to increase the quantity of stems, given the fuller dramatic look.  Want to add something extra, then why not consider added a vase, cuddly bear, chocolates or a balloon? This morning, tears flowed out on the thin film over my eyeballs and then dripped onto my cheeks. I wanted JJ to sleep so he could be his bubbly self throughout the day.  Obviously the selfish part was I wanted a snooze, or a small break.  I’ve been up since 440am rocking his heavy body to go back to sleep with my arms aching.  Then came nap time, and JJ was screaming to go to sleep but he kept arching himself going crazy, throwing his arms and legs everywhere.  So I continued with the gentle rocking and finally, the little monster turned into an angel sleeping.

All mums (and dads), go through a whirl wind of emotions such as above, extreme fatigue, unbelievable multi-tasking, and nonstop organising.  A never ending unpaid job! We all get hell days or even minutes which can seem everlasting. So a little help from other mums is a welcome! From a mum to another, every small gesture goes a long way, so maybe some items that can be borrowed, a playdate arranged, advice given or a smile from afar.

From other mums; my mum, cousin, friends, NCT group and Babycentre group have all lent me a handful of items.  From sleepyhead, Moses basket, sterilisers, clothes, toys, seats and books; all these items add up.  I’ve also received used clothes but in great condition! Absolutely amazing!  For little babies, clothing and items can be so ridiculously priced! Items for Sale in the local area on Facebook groups is money saving! I’ve bought loads from there.

The time has come, and I get to pass items on.  Maybe they will return once I have another child but that will be quite some time!  Ahahaha! This was a huge box and I don’t think the receiver was expecting this much goodies!  I think it came to around £400 worth of mummy and baby stuff! WOW!

I recently got engaged (WOOOP WOOOOP!), and wanted to ask my mum to walk with me down the aisle.  The rose is a great way to share how much I want my mum with me at this momentous occasion.  The rose delivered in a small box to fit through your letter box is beautiful.  Wrapped with cellophane, ribbon and Personalised Flowers logo sticker, there appeared the print ‘ Mum, I love you so much.  Always, your Laila’.  I randomly presented the rose in a gift bag to my mum.  To her bewildered amusement she opened the gift and really adored the rose.  She plans to display in on the shelf  in her living room.  YAY!

A Baby Shower designed for me

The day arrived where the effort of my organisers Louella, Monica and Shireen worked together to comprise a fun filled beautiful baby shower.  They took control and everything was a surprise – something that is so hard for me to do as I am normally the organiser. Arriving at the venue with Martin, firstly I was bewildered that the place exists, The Trafalgar Arms pub   in Tooting. I remember it looking tacky and old – but now it was refurbished with a front garden and shelter.

Then as we walked in we were taken to Smith Bar, there was a table that had beautifully presented name tags and food orders.

As I got further inside, where the guests were waiting, I let loose some tears.  Oh no – the emotional pregnant me is coming out again!  As I made my way talking to all my friends and family – it just felt so overwhelming. I couldn’t believe that a lot of them came – some I haven’t seen for years and some that haven’t seen me or the bump.  Yet they mean the world to me! A small glimpse later, I notice a table of red velvet cupcakes – one of my favourite flavours and cute macaroons!  Next to them was a wishing jar and nappy cakes!  All the great detail was fantastic!

After everyone had arrived the Smith Bar had sliding doors that opened up to another room!  That was not suspected at all! As I walked through to the Sullivan Room I immediately see a laptop connected to the tv – where a slide show of photos and all the guests are presented.  I could not take my eye of them – some photos I have never seen, all with cringe worthy moments or happy times! Then underneath was a magnitude of gift bags!  Bugger that was a lot!  Then the tables were laid out scattered with cute confetti, a framed poem and Baby Bingo cards!  The walls had baby bunting and tissue paper balls.  Oh, how loved and adored everything!

We ate – and boy was the food good!

Full of laughter were these well-presented games.  However losers were penalised with a splat of Elvis urine!  Haha!

Baby Big cards – game players needed to hit a match of words on a line and 2 winners would receive a gift.

Guess tummy size – game players had some string to guess my belly size!  Offensive guesses and some complimenting guesses – lol!

Guess what is in the bag – game players picked had to guess what was in the bag and if they guessed correctly I would win the item!

Eat the rusks – The quickest player to eat 2 rusks wins!  This was too funny just seeing guests stuffing their face.

Drink the milk – Who could suck milk out of a bottle the quickest!  Wow – these ladies are good at sucking!

Guess the baby food – taste unnamed baby food! This was a eye opener – I didn’t like any of the flavours.

Put the nappy on – Wrap tissue around as many guests as you can.

Overall, I cannot thank the organisers so much for this amazing baby shower and all the guests who really participated in everything thrown at them.  It was moments of happy tears, and the best moments with people I loved. Thank you to all of my dearest!

loveuk handmadeA gem I found online is the feed Love UK Handmade via Instagram that started a week ago. The concept is to support UK designers and small businesses by publishing their work, easily accessible to anyone.  Love UK Handmade started due to the dreams of an individual who understood the needs for businesses to have a presence in social media.  The collection of artists is handpicked of those that have products of high quality and uniqueness, some even being located in Harrods and notonthehighstreet.com.

The fresh use of colour and cool designs are distinctive features of Love UK Handmade feeds, all with an artistic photo displaying the crafts.  The personal touch added to this page, is the themed days; such as Doodle Day and Friends Friday, an absolutely great method to select items for the day.

My Little Wish Box – My Little Box

my little wish box

I fell in love with the My Little Box subscription over a year ago, which is full of beauty and lifestyle surprises through the post every month. I adore unknown packages and letters that do not involve bills in this case the January 2016 My Little Box.  With anticipation I open it up greeted with the sticker Happy New Dreams and Happy New Year.  The box theme is My Little Wish Box, fittingly suited to the New Year.

Kanako, the artist was busy designing a dandelion being blown with the words My Little Wish Box.  The edge of the box is a message from the team at My Little Box for what they wish upon 2016 for all their subscribers.  Well thought out!

I have my fingers crossed that they stuck to the glossy magazine rather than the fold out paper poster magazine.  A smile appears – its back to original form of glossiness.  Skimming through, it’s all about the reader’s wishes Instagram hashtags.  An excerpt from Big Magic, Elizabeth Gilbert I found inspiring was “I wanted to meet people, and to hear their stories.  Writers are told to write what they know and all I knew was that I didn’t know very much”.  A printed card with the quotation from Walt Disney “All our dreams can come true, if you have the courage to pursue them”.  I love these cards and have been saving them all.  Not sure yet what I’ll do with them.  Any ideas?

Going with the mint theme is a mint A5 diary which I will definitely use.  In the drawstring bag (I have collected these as they are so handy) is 3 necessary items.  Melted Fuchsia lipstick in a tube – liquefied long wear lipstick.  I will let you know how many hours this last.  A My Little Beauty (their own brand) of lip balm in the shape of lip stick.  Ren clean skincare presents a kind to skin formula of cleansing water to cleanse, remove makeup and tone.  These are all small hand size items which is always convenient for me in case I need to bring them anywhere.

The final gift was a range of message bracelets in the form of a ribbon.  You can tear off the cards and give to anyone!  I gave one to Louella and she loved it.

I love this box and it’ll be added to my organised boxes!
